Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family manage the physical infrastructure of the University. Functions include planning, architectural design, capital project commissioning, building code compliance, engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.), architectural drafting, landscape design, energy conservation and construction project management.
Professional Level Job Summary: Directors are responsible for the ongoing leadership and oversight of a department, including the development of strategies and processes which contribute to the University and/or campus mission and accountability for services provided. Directors are responsible and accountable for the analysis of fiscal and human resources required to achieve department objectives including hiring, compensation, termination, and performance management of subordinate employees.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Design or Construction Management
Six (6) years of related professional experience in failure analysis, construction management, knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction, building codes, design, electrical and/or civil engieering , or other related field.
Optional Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's or terminal degree in Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Design or Construction Management
Seven (7) years of professional experience in failure analysis, construction management, knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction, building codes, design, electrical and/or civil engieering , or other related field. Please Note: Anyone holding the Campus Architect needs to be a licensed Architect in Colorado. The Campus Architect is typically a director.
Related professional experience as director, department supervisor, work leader, or staff authority. Additional licensesures, bonds, and state certifications may be requried.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of strategic and collaborative planning, program and master plan analysis and development; financial and statistical analysis, and graphic and statistical presentation.

Ability to assist higher level management in assigned phases of complex institutional planning analyses.
Ability to make oral and written reports and presentations and prepare planning report information clearly and concisely at detailed as well as summarized executive levels.
Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and present institutional planning information including large statistical data bases.
Knowledge of facility program and master planning methodologies including need assessments, market analyses, space analyses, and statistical analyses.
Extensive knowledge of comprehensive planning, design, and construction principles speci?c to a higher education environment.
Extensive knowledge of and experience in major planning, design, and construction projects.
Strong working knowledge of various delivery models for construction projects, the pros and cons of each, and how these models align with projects of varying types.
Extensive knowledge of issues related to space management and allocation in a higher education environment.
Familiarity with Colorado's capital project process as well as the policies, procedures, and legislation that frame the process.
Understanding of real estate transactions, legal concepts, and terminology.
Working knowledge of the State of Colorado's architect, consultant, and construction selection process and various construction delivery methods.
