Associate Director

Career Family: Academic Services Professional Level: Academic Services Associate Director
Career Family Job Summary: Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.
Professional Level Job Summary: Associate Directors are responsible for working closely with the Director to manage a department or specific areas of a department. These positions recommend strategy, have responsibility for fiscal and/or human resources and have the authority to act on the Director's behalf.
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Five (5) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field. Optional Substitution: Related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree or terminal degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Six (6) years in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field Related professional experience as director, department supervisor, work leader, or staff authority

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Demonstrate a commitment to providing outstanding customer service skills. Ability to perform duties independently without guidance and direction from other professionals. Ability to articulate the University's mission and the importance of the 2030 strategic plan Ability to manage ambiguous situations and/or information and translate them into results Ability to demonstrate exceptional management and leadership qualities Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high attention to detail Ability to effectively plan, establish and implement program goals and objectives Ability to manage the day-to-day oversight of a department and its program processes, workflow and adminstration Ability to determine and implement a department's processes and strategic plans Ability to develop strategic plans that align with the goals of the University Demonstrate progressive supervisory qualities
