Postdoc of the Month

​​Tianjing Hu, PhD

Dr. Hu is a postdoc in the McKinsey lab in the Division of Cardiology where she studies how histone modifications regulate the function of cardiomyocytes. During her postdoc, Dr. Hu has publishd a first authored paper and two co-authored publications and has also been active in the postdoc community, volunteering on the PDRD's finance committee in 2019 and 2020. In addition to her hard work in the lab and postdoc community, Dr. Hu is also known to help her colleagues throughout the department.


Maria Jose Contreras Zarate, PhD
Dr. Contreras Zarate is currently a postdoc in the Department of Pathology in the Cittelly Lab where her work will contribute to a better understanding of how radiation therapies affect important cells in the brain during the course of brain metastatic cancer treatment. During her postdoc, Dr. Contreras Zarate has received a DOD fellowship through the Breast Cancer Research Program and has published a first author paper in Oncogene. She is described by her colleagues as a genuinely lovely and kind human being!


Brian Niemeyer, PhD
Dr. Niemeyer is a postdoctoral fellow in the Benam Lab in the Division of Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine where he is working on creating complex 3D organ systems to allow better understanding of disease progression and organ-organ crosstalk during respiratory infections. Dr. Niemeyer recently gave a talk as part of a seminar series dedicated to moving behind animal model systems at ASU. In addition to his hard work in the lab, he is also a great lab member!.
