During the registration process, you will be asked to identify any disability-related accommodations you may need to participate fully in the commencement ceremony.
There are ramps leading to the stage to accommodate wheelchairs and anyone who is unable to negotiate stairs. Sign language interpreters can be arranged as needed. Service animals (not emotional support animals) are permitted at the ceremony and must be pre-communicated during registration for planning purposes.
If you would like to speak with the commencement coordinator about accessibility arrangements for the ceremony, please email [email protected].
During the registration process, students may reserve ADA seating for guests in wheelchairs and with limited mobility needing special accommodations, as well as those who are hearing or vision impaired. A sign language interpreter will be present in this section during the ceremony. Each graduate may request up to four ADA seats during the registration process for guests with disabilities. Seat requests cannot be guaranteed after commencement registration closes.
If a graduate has already registered and needs to request ADA seats, please email [email protected]. Requests will be filled as space allows.
All spoken information during the ceremony will be captioned and made available to follow along in real time from a personal, mobile device. Real-time captioning will be accessible during the ceremony on the commencement homepage.
Wheelchairs and scooters are not available for use or to rent.
To support a smooth arrival for guests and graduates using mobility devices, we recommend utilizing the drop-off area by the iconic Big Blue Bear before proceeding to parking.
An accessible security checkpoint will be located just beyond Graduate Check-In, near the elevators. From this checkpoint, guests and graduates using mobility devices may take the elevator up to the Second Floor Ceremony Hall A entrance.
Our team is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming commencement experience for all attendees.
