Email Migration FAQ

Frequently asked questions and information about the email migration

How do I get to webmail?
The following are preferred URL's for the webmail systems:
On-Premises current system:
·         https://webmail.ucdenver.edu
o    If a user is moved to Office 365 and attempts to login to the on-premises system they will be redirected to the new http://myemail.ucdenver.edu URL for login.
New Cloud based Office 365 system:
·         http://myemail.ucdenver.edu
o    This address is to login to Office 365 only.  If on-premises users attempt to login here, they will be unable to.
Are Personal Folder PST files supported in Office 365?
We have had some questions about PST files in Office 365.  Yes, they are supported and there are no changes in the behavior of PST files.

One benefit to the new mail system is the 50 Gigabyte mailbox sizes, roughly 10x the size of our current mailboxes.  Given the larger mailbox size, users can move their legacy PST file data to the server and do away with PST files all together!

Which email clients are supported on PC and Macintosh?
PC (Windows 7 or later)
·         Microsoft Outlook 2010/2013
Macintosh OSX
·       Microsoft Outlook 2011

My department uses Public Folders.  Are public folders supported in Office 365?
Public folders are not supported in Microsoft Office 365.  If your department uses public folders, please contact the Office of Information Technology before your department migrates.  We will work with your department to make your public folder data available in a resource mailbox.

Will my mobile phone work after the migration?
All mobile phones will need to be reconfigured after a user migrates.  Instructions for reconfiguring mobile devices can be found here:  http://www.ucdenver.edu/email

I have permission to another mailbox and others have permission to my mailbox.  Will these permissions remain after the migration?
All permissions, rules, and related items will be migrated to the new system.  There will be no need to reconfigure any permissions, rules, etc.

What are mailbox sizes and attachment size limits in Office 365?
·         Mailbox Sizes are 50 Gigabytes (GB).
·         Attachment size limits are 25 Megabytes (MB)
