Mucosal and Vaccine Research Colorado

UC-Denver Microbiome Research Consortium (MiRC)

The objective of the UC-Denver Microbiome Research Consortium (MiRC) is to facilitate collaborative, innovative studies of the human-microbe interface (the "microbiome" at the University of Colorado and at-large.  MiRC provides the expertise and infrastructure required for all facets of microbiome research.  From bedside to bench to bioinformatics.  Our projects have explored the roles played by human-associated microbes in diverse human conditions including:

  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Mother-to-child transmission of HIV-1
  • Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
  • Chronic Wounds
  • Ventilator Associated Pneumonia
  • Staphylococcus areus colonization
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Type 1 Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Micronutrient excess
  • Children's Interstitial Lung Diseases
  • Short bowel syndrome
  • Eosinophilic Esophagitis
  • Catheter biofilms
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • Impact of vaccination

These studies have been carried out in the U.S. and in resource-limited countries.

Please contact us if you have a specific microbiome-related project in mind or want more general information.
