The program is designed to acquaint students with the basic history, methods, and perspectives of the discipline as well as a more advanced survey of the major fields of anthropology—archaeology, cultural anthropology, and biological/physical anthropology.
CU Denver’s MA program in cultural anthropology offers a unique focus on Medical Anthropology, a subdiscipline that includes the study of all aspects of health, illness, and disease in human communities and populations
The biological anthropology concentration within the graduate program is concerned with modern human biological diversity and the evolutionary history that has led to that diversity.
Environmental Sciences is a multidisciplinary study of the natural/physical environment. Academic fields involved in environmental sciences include chemistry, biology and ecology, physics, geology, geography, anthropology, engineering, political science, law, economics, and health sciences.
Public health professionals work to protect the environment, identify sources of illness in population groups, control disease outbreaks, evaluate the economic ramifications of changing demographics, developing interventions to promote healthy behavior, and produce health policy legislation.
This program combines the BA/BS of Public Health and the Master of Public Health (MPH), allowing students to earn an undergraduate and graduate degree in five years.
The undergraduate minor in public health is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the social, cultural, and biological dimensions of health.
Students working toward a minor in public health demography will acquire focused training in theories and methods of demography. The minor will help prepare students for graduate level training in demography or related fields and for jobs requiring an understanding of population dynamics.
The PhD in Health & Behavioral Sciences prepares students to be leaders in the interdisciplinary field of population health. Our program draws on theories and methods from the social, behavioral, and health sciences, to understand health, health behaviors, and health care.
