Wait Lists

The course I need is full!

If you are eligible to take a course but find the course is closed/full, you may request to be placed on a wait list through UCDAccess, if the department has determined that a wait list will be offered. Placing your name on a wait list does not guarantee that you will be enrolled in that course. However, wait lists have proven to be a very effective tool for students wishing to register in closed classes.

You cannot be enrolled in and/or wait-listed for courses offered at the same time, and you cannot be enrolled/wait-listed for two sections of the same course (except in the case of Special Topics courses).

Monitor your status on the wait list; you will be enrolled for the course if there is space. You are responsible for the tuition if you get enrolled, even if you do not attend. If you do not wish to take the course, you are responsible to drop it according to the published deadlines.

Wait-list positions and enrollment

When someone drops a closed course, the student who is next on the wait list is automatically enrolled. Schools and colleges reserve the right to make exceptions to manage their wait lists based on unique needs and circumstances. Please check your class schedule on UCDAccess through the 10th day of classes in spring and fall, and through the seventh day of classes in summer, to see if you have been enrolled in the course(s).

CU Online—wait-listed courses

If you are wait listed for an online course, you will have limited access to that course the first week of class. After the first week of class, if you have not been automatically absorbed into the class, you will be dropped. If you want to be added to a closed course, you must obtain permission from the instructor. Contact CU Online for assistance in contacting the instructor.

Dropping wait-listed courses

If you choose not to remain on a wait-list or if you find that you have been enrolled in a course that you no longer want, drop the course as soon as possible.

Financial information for wait-listed courses

You will be billed and become financially responsible for courses for which you are wait listed. You must meet payment deadlines to retain your position on a wait list.  If you are still on the wait list for a course when the wait lists are dropped, you will receive a tuition adjustment.
