The College of Engineering and Applied Science offers two types of advising—pre-engineering and major-specific—depending on your degree progress. You are encouraged to take advantage of advising on a regular basis to ensure satisfactory progress toward your degree.
Pre-engineering vs. Engineering questions
- Pre-engineering advising occurs in the Academic Success and Advising Center (NC 2024) and includes assistance with questions regarding general education core curriculum requirements including transferability of math, science and core-related courses. Questions about campus resources for both graduate and undergraduate engineering students and other general questions can also be addressed through advising in Engineering Student Services. Please contact Engineering Students Services for administrative advising and general questions.
- Major-specific advising, also known as faculty advising, occurs in each of the departments in the college and includes assistance with questions related to curricular plans of study, course selection, satisfactory progress toward degree requirements and research assistance. Please contact your department for specific major advising.
Scheduling an Appointment
For specific advising questions related to your curriculum, please contact your department’s faculty advisor. Students admitted to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as pre-engineering students should make an appointment with the Academic Success and Advising Center at 303-352-3520.
