Inclusive Teaching Community

We are piloting the Inclusive Teaching Community as a replacement for the Inclusive Pedagogy Academy (IPA) for Academic Year 25-26. It is possible the IPA will return in the future!

We have adapted the IPA content in a self-paced course, Inclusive Pedagogy: Foundations that is a required element of the ITC Participation badge.

The Inclusive Pedagogy Academy was developed and funded by the University of Colorado Denver Office for Access and Campus Engagement, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the Teaching Innovation and Program Strategy Division (TIPS)

We will update this page with a list of workshops and/or presentations that count toward the ITC badge. To get the 25-26 ITC Participation Badge, the workshops:

• Must have been attended during the 25-26 Academic Year
• Workshops should be at least 45 mins long
• Must have been presented by a member of the CU Denver community (so, hosted by TIPS, CU Denver faculty, CU Denver academic departments, CU Denver campus offices, etc).
• The content should be primarily oriented toward inclusive teaching (i.e., belonging, accessibility, open approaches/affordability, student identity and lived experience, equity, representation, strengths-based approaches, culturally responsive teaching). 
• Workshop content and focus should be grounded in student wellbeing, credible research, evidence, and lived experience. These programs should reflect values of integrity, inclusion, and intellectual honesty. 

If you've attended a workshop that is not listed on this ITC page but that you think should count toward the badge, reach out to us at [email protected].

The badge submission form will ask you for the name of the workshop presenters, the title of the workshop, the date of the workshop, and a short overview of the subject matter for the workshop. 

You will report your own workshop or presentation attendance for the badge on the honor system. We will not follow up with the presenters or require attendance be taken.

Any faculty member or anyone currently teaching for CU Denver is eligible for this badge. If you have questions about your eligibility, please reach out to us at [email protected]

Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] if you'd like to get the badge but have not been able to attend any suitable workshops. 

You can also choose to meet with a TIPS instructional designer to replace one required workshop.

Yes! The ITC is meant to be something that all instructors can participate in (and receive a badge for) every year. 

• If you've already completed the IPA you can review the self-paced course and then submit a newly updated course element (syllabus, assignment, teaching statement) in addition to the two workshops.  
• You may receive a badge for each year of the ITC by attending new workshops and submitting different, updated course elements.
