The multiyear Academic Transformation initiative has been a review and reconsideration of several aspects of CU Denver's academic operations. It was conceived in response to changes in technology, education, and culture, in and beyond our university. By rethinking long-standing premises of our teaching and learning environment, we can better educate students and prepare them for careers. We also will better align with CU Denver priorities including making education work for all and becoming a best place to work.
The Office of the Provost in Fall 2023 announced the formation of four working groups that met throughout 2023-24 to explore these issues. In Fall 2024, progress reports and preliminary recommendations were circulated for constituent input including a November community-wide Academic Transformation: Community Conversations event. Final reports were delivered in December 2024 (and posted on individual working group pages). Implementation of some recommendations, most notably a refreshed Core Curriculum and a Program Check-In process, has progressed since 2025, and other recommendations may see implementation in the future.
