Today’s public officials are required to anticipate and respond to an ever-changing environment. They are asked to make tough decisions about complex issues. In a society where change is constant, leadership skills are of paramount importance.
The Rocky Mountain Leadership Program is designed to help participants meet these challenges and develop those leadership skills.
The Rocky Mountain Leadership Program is an intensive residential seminar that allows participants to examine their role in the public sector, explore the changing and demanding environment in which they operate, and develop leadership skills that help facilitate effective public action. If interested, they can also earn three hours of credit through the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver.
Participants completing the program will identify leadership skills and values needed to succeed in the public sector, develop a clearer understanding of their own leadership style, model, vision and purpose, and enhance skills needed for successful leadership. They will learn to appreciate diversity in background, style, and perspective and take advantage of different strengths to establish more effective teams. Additionally they will develop their ability to think more strategically and be a more effective catalyst for organizational and community renewal and change. Interaction with their peers from around the country will create additional unique learning opportunities. Most importantly, participants will be able to apply the knowledge learned to real world situations equipping them for both their current position and new challenges.
Who Should Attend:
Elected officials and upper-level managers from the federal, state, non-profit and local levels of government who want to increase their effectiveness, re-energize and enhance the skills needed for successful leadership, extend their network of professional colleagues, broaden their perspectives and learn in a fun, interactive environment should all consider attending the Rocky Mountain Leadership Program.
The Rocky Mountain Leadership Program has almost universal appeal and value for those in public service. It has been attended by elected officials such as U.S. Congressmen, state legislators, mayors, city councilmembers, county commissioners, assessors and others.
