Bio: Professor Fitzpatrick earned her Ph.D. from the University of Texas Austin. Prior to coming to the University of Colorado School of Public Affairs (SPA), she conducted evaluations in Appalachia and in New York state and was on the faculty at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). She has won a university teaching award and a SPA research award. Her research interests are in program evaluation, education policy, and policies affecting women, children, and families. She has conducted research on the factors that influence women´s non-traditional career choices in math, engineering, and instructional technology. In education, her interests concern school choice and improving evaluation and assessment in education. In evaluation, she has continued to conduct evaluations during her years at CU, has written two books concerning evaluation, and served on the board of the American Evaluation Association. She is currently on the editorial board of the American Journal of Evaluation and New Directions in Evaluation. The fourth edition of her textbook in program evaluation will be published in 2010. In the spring term of 2009, she is on sabbatical in Madrid, Spain where she is conducting research on the growth and practice of evaluation in Spain and the contextual influences on the recent rise of evaluation in Spain and Europe.
