Bryon Gustafson
Bryon G. Gustafson has been a public servant for more than 20 years.  He is currently a Bureau Chief with the California Department of Justice, Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), where he has worked since 2005.  His work focuses on law enforcement standards, evaluation, and research.  Among other projects and programs, he directs a multidisciplinary research team investigating training and policy interventions relative to the causes of fatal and career-ending law enforcement traffic collisions.  His research interests focus on effects of regulatory policy, constitutive processes of policy formation, and economic justifications of regulation and policy—specifically as they relate to policing.  He is also a Senior Consultant with the John Standish Consulting Group and has served as a Lecturer for UC Denver.  Previously Gustafson was Police Lieutenant and Executive Officer of the Sutter Creek (CA) Police Department where he served for over 10 years.

Gustafson is a graduate of the 218th FBI National Academy and was the 113th President of the Delinquency Control Institute at the University of Southern California (USC).  He holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado Denver, is a Pi Alpha Alpha MPA graduate of USC, and also holds a Magna Cum Laude BS in Psychology from Excelsior College.  He is married to Dr. Sara E. McClellan, Associate Director of the California Comprehensive Center at WestEd, who specializes in organizational development.  They have two cats and make their home in Sacramento, CA.
