Embracing Adolescents: Comprehensive Strategies to Preventing Adolescent Relationship Abuse

The Center on Domestic Violence is excited to announce our Spring 2014 Community Education Series “Embracing Adolescents: Comprehensive Strategies to Preventing Adolescent Relationship Abuse.”

The workshop will take place on Tuesday, January 7th 2014 at the University of Colorado Denver’s Lawrence Street Center in downtown Denver.

This workshop will offer simple steps to a comprehensive approach to ending relationship abuse and sexual assault. Our Distinguished Guest presenter for this training is Brandy Selover.  A national trainer for the Center for Healthy Teen Relationships at the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence, Brandy has worked for more than a 13 years to promote healthy relationships and create compassionate communities as a way to end violence against women and girls, men and boys. She provides technical assistance for organizations across the country who are building healthier futures for their communities through the prevention of violence.

By the close of this workshop, participants will have:

  • An increased understanding of the core concepts of primary prevention of interpersonal violence.
  • An increased capacity to meaningfully engage young people in their communities and schools to prevent relationship abuse.
  •   An increased understanding of a model comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to preventing adolescent relationship abuse.
