Welcome to the Center for Local Government
Research and Training’s website. The
mission of the Center is to “enhance
the capacity of local governments.” Recognizing,
that local governments serve multiple purposes, such as: providing public goods
and services, driving regional economic growth, and they providing ‘street
level’ access to the broader American democratic system of governance, we
approach capacity building in different ways.
Drawing on our expertise in public finance, public management, economic
development, education policy, emergency management, and collaborative
governance we provide timely and relevant support to local governments in the
form of applied research, technical assistance, and professional development.
As someone who has long been fascinated by local
governments, I consider it a tremendous privilege to serve as the Center’s
Director and to support Colorado’s local governments. I invite you to learn more about the Center
