From innovative MPA and MCJ concentrations in Emergency Management to Domestic Violence, to the highly successful growth of our first undergraduate degree (Bachelors in Criminal Justice), to our many community events, to the timely research of our Buechner Institute for Governance, we are a School committed to making an impact.
I have been privileged to serve as Dean since July 2008. Before that I was a SPA faculty member for 5 years, as well as directing our PhD program and our Center for Education Policy Analysis. It is such a pleasure to work with our superb SPA faculty, our outstanding staff, and our committed researchers and trainers at the Buechner Institute.
As I write this in 2012, the nation has been rocked by economic turmoil for the past 3 years. Important elections campaigns are gearing up for fall 2012. Public affairs challenges are abundant, for our nation, the state of Colorado, and the University of Colorado. As we work to help understand and revitalize the economy, deal with reduced budgets, and still advance human progress, the study of public affairs provides a solid foundation for these efforts, with our training in management, policy, budgets, and related topics more timely than ever.
