How To Apply

***The Fall 2017 MSRA Application deadline is April 1, 2017***

Students must submit a complete application package by the published deadline.  Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. 

Application Checklist for Domestic Applicants  

    • Graduate Admissions Application – Part I  
    • Graduate Admissions Application – Part II
    • In-State Tuition Classification Application (if eligible)
    • Application Fee
    • GRE Scores 
    • Official or certified copies of all college or university transcripts (2 copies)  
    • Three (3) letters of recommendation  
    • Application Essay  
    • Resume 
    • Portfolio  (3 examples at the most) 

Portfolio Guidelines

      • All applicants will submit a portfolio that represents their accomplishments in audio production
      • Applicants must submit documentation describing their role on each project (ex: artist/performer, engineer, producer, arranger, foley, ADR, etc.)
      • In choosing portfolio pieces, candidates should first strive to show their ability to record acoustic sound sources with microphones.
      • It is helpful for the committee to see any other examples production and engineering skills you may possess. Such as MIDI production or video post-production. 
      • If the applicant has any examples of working in post-production, they are strongly encouraged to include an example of their work in the portfolio.   Though a post-production piece is not required.
      • One possible portfolio (among many possibilities) might include:
        #1 – A multi-track song with drums, bass, guitars, vocals, etc.
        #2 – MIDI project with virtual instruments, etc. 
        #3 – Video post-production assignment
