The Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities (a2ru) 2016 National Conference will be hosted by the University of Colorado Denver, November 3-5, 2016.

This year’s theme is ArtsRx: Creative Venture, Wellbeing & the New Humanities.

What is art? CAM alumnus answers ‘the great question’

It may have taken Ken Walker 17 years to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts from CU Denver, but he didn’t have to wait that long to become an artist. For Walker, who has served as firefighter/EMT for 29 years, earning his BFA was a way to enhance his understanding of art. It also helped him feel a new level of authenticity as an artist.

The story of three women – a mother and her two daughters – with a serious need for speed is chronicled in the fast-paced new documentary by Michelle Bauer Carpenter, an associate professor of digital design in the College of Arts & Media (CAM).

Bands such as the Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, One Republic, The Fray, DeVotchKa and Air Dubai are just a few local acts that feature alumni from the University of Colorado Denver College of Arts & Media (CAM) music program.

Amara Hulslander teaches Interactive Media in the College of Arts and Media’s Digital Design Program. When she’s not in the classroom, she is introducing the world to the ways of The Force .

Lynx Camp

Lynx camp is as popular as ever. Session I students visited Red Rocks, interacted with many visiting artists (including Ben Wysocki from The Fray, photo) and learned from CAM faculty all about the Music Industry.


Music & Entertainment Industry Studies students performed for the campus during the annual CAM Jam.

Too Much Glue

The 2016 graduates of the Digital Animation Center’s program produced the animate short, Too Much Glue as their final project.
