Derek Vanderhorst

Derek VanderhorstDerek Vanderhorst​ earned his Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in audio engineering in May 1994. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a sound effects editor for an independent animation company, Klasky-Csupo, Inc., who created the cartoon, Rugrats. He moved to San Diego to work for for a time and returned to Los Angeles to work as a freelance sound effects editor.  Has gone on to supervise and mix sound for a host of movies. Assistant Professors Leslie Gaston and Paul Musso created a contest for students who sweetened clips created by alumni Derek Vanderhorst. The winners and Gaston went to the Boulder Firing Range to record gun shots with Vanderhorst for an upcoming movie.
