Prior to his appointment to the CU Denver faculty, Ken worked for 12 years as a planning consultant and project manager for URS Corporation and Matrix Design Group, where he specialized in redevelopment and urban renewal planning, community planning, and military base planning.
Ken is possibly best known as the founder and administrator of the DenverInfill and DenverUrbanism website and blogs, which offer news, ideas and commentary on infill developments and other aspects of sustainable design and urbanism in central Denver. Launched in 2005, Ken's website and blogs enjoy over 40,000 visits per month and is regarded as Denver’s leading online resource for pro-urban information and advocacy. Ken has been honored for his work with DenverInfill/DenverUrbanism, receiving the prestigious Denver Mayor’s Design Award, the Downtown Denver Award from the Downtown Denver Partnership, and is a two-time Best of Denver award winner from Westword.
Ken is very active in Denver’s downtown and planning communities. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Denver Civic Ventures organization and is the past Chair of the Partnership’s Transportation and Development Council. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Union Station Advocates, and recently served as a member of the Executive Committee of Urban Land Institute-Colorado (ULI). Ken frequently presents on Denver’s urban history and its current growth and development to civic, educational, and corporate organizations throughout the region.
