Vision and Values

In achieving its mission, CoPR:

  • Emphasizes the value of the history of built environments as a resource in shaping the future;
  • Increases access to and utilization of resources and scholarship at the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP), the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), and the University of Colorado Denver;
  • Engages a wide constituency including faculty and students; other Research Centers at UCD; the greater academic environment; local, regional and national government bodies; the preservation and professional communities; and the general public;
  • Participates in the development and delivery of the architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and historic preservation curricula in the College of Architecture and Planning;
  • Enhances the understanding and appreciation of culture through the investigation and explication of material culture, cultural heritage, and cultural institutions;
  • Advances research on historic and cultural preservation through the generation of new knowledge and methodologies;
  • Contributes to the documentation and dissemination of new developments in historic and cultural preservation through education, publication, symposiums, and research sharing;
  • Celebrates the concept of "regionalism(s)" in its work throughout Colorado, the Rocky Mountain West, across the United States and internationally;
  • Inspires appreciation of place as a source of identity, happiness and belonging.
