Active and Healthy

Colorado has the reputation for being a place where people are healthy. But over the past decade, the percentage of adults and children that are overweight or obese has increased at an alarming rate. One of the causes of this increase is an inactive lifestyle. Investments in recreation parks, trails, inviting schoolyards, and outdoor fitness parks are great ways to encourage people to be active.

CCCD has completed preliminary designs for communities, hospitals and affordable housing developments that provide residents of all ages to get outdoors and move. Playgrounds are designed with input from the children who will be using them and reflect the unique character of the community or school. Community gardens are designed to provide an opportunity for light activity, a chance to socialize, and provide a source for fresh vegetables and flowers. Recreation park master plans often include outdoor fitness equipment, allowing everyone access to exercise equipment. Each design is done in collaboration with those who will benefit from the new or renovated amenity.
