We are happy to announce that our national search for a new vice chancellor for budget and finance for CU Denver | Anschutz, including delegated responsibilities as chief finance officer for the CU Denver Campus, has successfully been concluded with the selection of Jennifer Sobanet for the role.
Jennifer’s major emphasis will be providing oversight on financial issues for CU Denver as its CFO. In addition, as vice chancellor for finance and budget, she will have responsibilities for both campuses in the areas of budget, finance, student financial services, and policy and fiscal analysis. She will report to both CU Denver Chancellor Horrell and to Senior Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance/Chief Financial Officer for CU Denver | Anschutz Terri C. Carrothers.
Jennifer has an extensive executive leadership background in higher education. She has been the chief operating officer at the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) since October 2013. While there she worked on higher-education funding models that aligned with an aggressive state plan for increasing postsecondary completion and strived to connect higher education policy with workforce-based demands.
Previously, she served as the chief financial officer and vice president of finance and administration at Front Range Community College; as the director of strategic planning and partnership development at Colorado State University – Global Campus; and as the associate vice president of compliance, budgets, and technical support at the Colorado Community College System. She also spent nearly a decade working in management consulting and corporate finance.
Jennifer rose to the top of a highly qualified pool of applicants, and we are fortunate to have someone with her directly applicable expertise assume this important role. She will join our team as soon as her duties with the state are concluded this summer. Please join us in welcoming her to CU Denver | Anschutz.
