Hosted by the Center for Faculty Development & Advancement (CFDA), New Faculty Orientation gives new faculty an opportunity to connect, get to know their new university, and grow as professionals.

New CU Denver faculty will gather on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022 (9:00AM-2:30PM). We will meet in room 2500 of the Student Commons Building.

8:30-9:00AM: New Faculty gather at 2500 Student Commons Building.

9:00: Welcome from the CFDA. Introduction to CU Denver.

9:30: Welcome from Chancellor Michelle Marks and Provost Constancio Nakuma

10:00: Round tables with campus leaders.

11:00: Briefing on CU Denver's COVID-19 response, with Public Health Response Director Lacey Klindt

  • Location: room 2500, Student Commons Building

11:10: Conversation with Classroom Technology Support team members

  • Location: room 2500, Student Commons Building

11:15: Your choice: campus tour or conversation with new colleagues.

12:00: Lunch. (Stay tuned for updates on fun surprises!)

1:00: Mentoring circles: meet your mentor and connect with new colleagues. Begin to plan your professional development for the year ahead.

2:30: Classroom Technology Support Team members will join us in the CFDA's kitchen area. You can take a short ed tech tour before grabbing a snack.

2:30-3:30: Optional: Salsa party with the CFDA (hosted by Los Molinos restaurant)

    During Your First Month at CU Denver

    • You will be asked to complete online, asynchronous learning from University of Colorado Human Resources (forthcoming).
    • We encourage you to register for a "Canvas Basics" workshop via the Office of Digital Education to learn more about the Canvas learning management system.

    Throughout Your First Year at CU Denver

    • Participate in monthly meetings with an Early-Career Faculty Mentoring Program "Mentoring Circle."
    • We encourage you to join in workshops through the CFDA, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the Office of Research Services, and other offices across campus to build your professional practice.
