A learning community is a group of first-year college
students who engage in multiple, linked learning experiences together. A CU
Denver learning community consists of a group of 24 students who will be
enrolled in a cluster of three classes linked by an interdisciplinary theme and
applicable to the CU Denver Core curriculum. The cluster of courses includes a
First-Year Seminar, an English Composition course, and a subject-based course. Also,
linked with the cluster of courses are co-curricular and community activities that
will integrate classroom learning with life skills and real-world issues.
For the upcoming 2014-2015
school year, two options of learning communities are available: Opening Doors Learning Community and Discover Colorado Living Learning Community.
