What is OnCore?

OnCore is a clinical trial management system (CTMS) developed by Forte Research Systems, Inc. based in Madison, WI. It includes a suite of clinical and translational research modules to manage clinical research trials, patient registries and biospecimen management activities. OnCore has been successfully implemented in 53 institutions, 24 of which are NCI designated Cancer Centers and 19 are multi-disciplinary institutions (10 CTSAs).

OnCore is primarily an operational system.  It has an extensive, user-friendly interface designed to facilitate complex workflows and manual data entry. Oncore’s purpose is to help research coordinators and administrators manage the day-to-day operational activities of clinical studies. These activities include committee reviews, budgeting, tracking protocols and enrollments including  individual patient visits, billing for services, managing biospecimen inventories, and reporting to regulatory agencies.
Centrally tracking these activities across all clinical studies conducted at the University allows institutional leadership to monitor and react to trends in research activities, compliance, and financial management.
OnCore’s implementation will encompass system integration with Epic, with features such as the ability to capture patient demographics and lab results. Additionally, CU, UCHealth, Forte and Epic are exploring more advanced integration designed to provide automation and increased efficiency for billing compliance.
