Project Overview

Since 2012, the CU research community has been engaged in the process of evaluating a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) called Oncore (from Forte Research Systems, Inc). Through the efforts of the UCH Research Advisory Committee, which includes representation from UCH as well as many clinical research groups on campus, OnCore was selected as its preferred CTMS, and funding has been secured which will provide a strong, centralized implementation and support structure for the project.

On 10/09/2013 the contract with Forte Research Systems (for OnCore) was finalized. Now comes the hard part of getting the system up and running. There are many things to consider in implementing OnCore and we are going to need everyone’s help and input. The project team will do it’s best to offer opportunities for involvement through all levels of the organization.

This is exciting opportunity for the research community to implement a system that will offer significant functionality in clinical trial management tasks across many types of trials and across the life cycle of research studies. The research community will benefit from the tools and processes that are part of the new Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS), OnCore, that is being implemented. OnCore provides an informatics infrastructure for managing research, including a wide range of operational components (clinical, regulatory, financial and administrative) and is designed facilitate the complex work of conducting clinical research. OnCore has the capability to organize the many administrative tasks necessary to conduct clinical research, but is not limited to administrative operations. It also has the capability to enhance biorepository activities related to specimen inventory and distribution management, facilitate committee review of new protocols, and streamline monitoring activities for investigator-initiated trials.

It is the intention to implement OnCore in a way that is beneficial to researchers across the entire organization, and the roll out plan is still being developed. It is anticipated that roll-out to Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and Renal Medicine as well as a pilot group within the Cancer Center will be in Summer 2014. Further rollout to the Cancer Center will happen in the second half of 2014. This will include biospecimen management ePRMS and migration of data from existing databases (TES).

As detailed project plans are developed, you will be able to find timelines, project milestones and other pertinent information on this page. Check back often for the latest information.

As part of the project planning and to provide the necessary ongoing support of OnCore, certain administrative tasks will be done by the OnCore support team. Other tasks or activities will be done by the individual research groups or teams. We've developed a diagram that outlines some of these activities and if they will be performed by the OnCore support team or by the research teams.  --Click here for the Diagram of Responsibilities-
