Radiation Safety

The Radiation Safety group provides services to laboratories on campus that have approved radioactive materials licenses in Radioactive Waste Management, Procurement of Radioactive Materials, and Training. Radiation Safety works in conjunction with the Hazardous Waste Management and Biosafety groups within EHS to maintain and provide services for all biomedical research needs.

Radiation Safety provides licenses authorizing PIs to use radioactive materials on campus. Radioactive materials use must adhere to the rules and regulations outlined by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). Under these auspices and the authority of the Committee on Ionizing Radiation, Radiation Safety conducts audits and spot checks to ensure radioactive materials are used in accordance with the rules promulgated by CDPHE through our radioactive materials license
