 ORDE Services FAQ

WHAT EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EVENTS ARE OFFERED BY ORDE?

Based on extensive and ongoing consultation with faculty by our Assistant Director for Educational Outreach, Naomi Nishi, ORDE offers a proposal development/funding source curriculum to meet your needs as researchers. The ORDE Faculty Seminar Series has two different formats - a two-hour version on specific topics and a one-hour Know Your Agency Lunch Series that will highlight specific funding agencies. Our educational events offer opportunities for faculty-to-faculty interaction to encourage discussion about current research and exploration of potential collaborations. 1

WHAT IS A PERSONALIZED FUND SEARCH?

Once a faculty member has identified a potential subject for his or her next grant proposal, it's time to begin exploring which agencies - both public and private - would be interested. An ORDE staff member will talk with you, either in-person or via telephone, about your project/research interests and then design and conduct a fund search for you. Your fund search results come back to you via e-mail in the form of a planning document, providing you with a broad overview of agencies that have interests related to your proposed research. Contact Lynette or Naomi today to begin the process.2

WHAT IS A TARGETED E-MAIL ANNOUNCEMENT?

ORDE routinely monitors sponsors and then notifies interested faculty when funding opportunities become available in their areas of interest. To begin receiving these e-mail announcements, either:

1) Take advantage of our personalized fund searching service OR

2) Send us project information, your CV and suggested keywords
    (lynette.michael@ucdenver.edu)

We will then get you set up to automatically receive notices of upcoming funding opportunities specific to your areas of interest.

 WHAT IS A STRATEGY SESSION?

We are happy to meet with individual faculty members or collaborative research groups to discuss proposal development strategies. Topics may include how and when to contact agency program officers, agency variations and interests, agency guideline interpretation, potential agency matches and what University services are available.4

 WHAT ARE COLLABORATION CONNECTIONS?

Based on our faculty contacts across the University and our knowledge of their research interests, we are often able to suggest other faculty in similar or complementary research areas with whom a faculty member may wish to consult or collaborate. We can also offer best practices on forming and sustaining research collaborations.5

WHAT TYPES OF PROPOSAL RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE FROM ORDE?

ORDE staff members develop a variety of resources to assist faculty throughout the proposal development process. Available resources include our Funding Opportunity e-Book Series (New Investigator, Sabbatical and Pilot Project e-Books), a Proposal Development Checklist which serves to help organize the proposal process, our Know Your Agency Series which consists of two-page briefs providing quick background on particular funding agencies and many others.

We also provide access to resources developed by other organizations including funding agencies. Check out our Resources page for more details.
