I want to be a nurse because I enjoy the kind of patient interaction you get to perform. Nurses are with the patient more than any other healthcare professional, and I want to be a member of the support system for patients during difficult times in their lives. Nurses get to apply so much information to every patient contact, and that intellectual challenge is very intriguing to me.

I started studying nursing because wanted to do something that made a difference. In 2011 I became a mom and it was the catalyst for the changes I wanted to make. I started taking classes through Community College of Aurora and I was accepted into the Integrated Nursing Pathway in 2013!

BS Integrated Nursing Pathway

This is my second career. After a successful run in business from 1991-2011, raising 3 sons and caring for both parents in their final years in my home, I felt as though it was time to start doing what made my heart sing. I spent years in a career that afforded me a good living, but I was missing passion for my day to day life. It took me 6 years to decide to return to school. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner!

I am passionate about nursing and am excited to continue my educational journey with CU’s College of Nursing. I am originally from Montgomery, Alabama, but I love Colorado and all it has to offer. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, running, baking, and spending time with friends and family.

Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist

I became a nurse because I found that helping people in their time of needs was a great passion of mine. Additionally, my mom was a medical/surgical nurse while I was growing up and was a great mentor in inspiring me to become a nurse.

PhD - Healthcare Systems

Nursing runs in my family. My mom is a nurse and my aunts were nurses. I would go to work with my mom and loved the hospital and what went on in the hospital. I loved to care for people.
