How to Apply


Thank you for applying to the RN-BSN program at the College of Nursing. Please read through the website carefully. Pay close attention the directions before you begin the process-this will help to ensure that you submit all the required application materials, prevent unnecessary frustration, and make you a more competitive applicant. We recommend you check our website frequently for updates to the application process.

Information about the Application:

  • The application is only available online .   

  • The online application consists of the online application sections and the documents that you will need to upload to the application.  All materials received by the College become the property of the University of Colorado. 

  • Non-refundable $65 application fee is payable online in the application.

  • For a complete application, all fields are required.  If a field is not completed, the default answer will be applied to your application.
  • Your former last name(s) are required.  Note that some of your transcripts may be under a different last name and in order for your transcripts and other materials to be matched to your application, your former last name(s) need to be identified.
  • The pathway that you are applying for, RN-BSN, is required. 
  • The Prerequisite Form
  • The Residency Form
  • The Criminal History Form is only required if applicable. Read the instructions carefully and self-disclose any information.
  • The Suspension Form is only required if applicable. Read the instructions carefully and self-disclose any information.

Admissions Essay

The essay consists of the following 3 questions.  These questions are to be answered in writing by only you. You may discuss ideas with others but cannot have others write, read or edit your essay. Your essay is limited to one page, single spaced, size 12 font for the entire three-part essay. Please do not repeat the questions in your answer, simply label each section of the essay as "A", "B" or "C" respectively.

  • Describe your perceptions and attitude about nursing today. In your answer, identify current information about the field of nursing including the demands, expectations and career options.
  • What do you believe are the demands of a nursing education and how have you prepared to make this significant change to your current situation?
  • Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the University learning community in terms of diversity, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you

U.S. Transcripts

  • College of Nursing now accepts official eTranscripts. Have official eTranscripts e-mailed to nursing.transcripts@ucdenver.edu.
  • It is very important that you request your official transcripts (from all colleges or universities where course work has been taken) to be submitted to the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs and Diversity using the address below.
  • Official transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institutions to the College of Nursing. Transcripts in sealed envelopes submitted and stamped as official that are submitted by anyone other than the issuing institution will not be accepted as official.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the College of Nursing to ensure that all transcripts have been received.
International Transcripts
  • If an applicant attended a college or university outside of the U.S., the College of Nursing requires official transcripts be sent from the issuing institutions to the College of Nursing. Transcripts in sealed envelopes submitted by anyone other than the issuing institution will not be accepted as official.
  • The College of Nursing also requires a course by course evaluation of international transcripts done by World Education Services (WES). The WES evaluation must be sent directly from WES to the College of Nursing. It is strongly recommended that the international transcripts and the WES evaluation be ordered several months before the application deadline.
  • All required transcripts and the WES evaluation must be postmarked by the deadlines above if mailed.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to contact the College of Nursing to ensure that all transcripts and the WES evaluation arrive at the College of Nursing.
