MS in Health Administration

Explore a business career in the health industry

If you are interested in working in one of the most dynamic industries in the country, join one of our health administration degrees. Our programs build on a basic foundation in management concepts and techniques to address issues unique to one of the nation’s most complex and rapidly growing industries, health care.

We have both an MBA in Health Administration and an MS in Health Administration. Health professionals who already hold an MBA or are interested in a more specialized course of study may consider the Master of Science in Health Administration. If you are new to the field and new to graduate school, consider the MBA in Health Administration.

Accreditation

The curriculum is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). The MBA and MS in Health Administration are the only accredited health administration programs in the Rocky Mountain region.

Alliance Affiliation

The UC Denver Business School's Health Care programs have recently joined the prestigious Business School Alliance for Healthcare Management (BSAHM), in the company of other top-ranked institutions from across the country. Dedicated to raising the profile and improving the quality of health care management education, the alliance benefits students by giving them opportunities to gain real-world management skills while participating in case-specific competitions as well as encouraging hospitals to hire alliance graduates.

Flexibility

Classes are held in the day, evenings and online so students can attend classes at times that work for them. Students can blend campus and online courses within a semester if the online option is available for your program.  Our MBA degree is available completely online.  Our class sizes are smaller so students can learn from expert practitioner faculty and network with other seriously motivated students. Students develop relationships that last for a lifetime.

In December of 2007 the health administration faculty adopted the following seven competencies.

Business Knowledge and Skills
Management in the health care environment
Strategic Orientation
Financial Skills
Communication Skills
Achievement Orientation
Self-Confidence

There is not currently an opportunity to receive dual degree privileges when completing an MBA with an MS in health administration.

Faculty in the health administration program include nationally recognized scholars who produce theoretical and applied research in academic journals in their fields. This cutting-edge research guarantees that the health administration curriculum reflects the impact of that research. You will learn in our classrooms what other students will read in a textbook next year. Many of our faculty also have real-world experiences that bring relevance to the curriculum.

Individuals are considered members of the Health Administration faculty if they teach a health administration course; conduct research in healthcare; or provide consulting services to healthcare organizations in association with the Business School.

My degree from the Health Administration Program made it possible for me complete the transition from the high tech industry to health care. I graduated from the program with the skills necessary to find a rewarding job and challenging career. I would not have the job I have today without my education from UC Denver.
