To graduate in four years, you will need to complete 30 credits per year, or approximately 10 classes per year. You might decide to take 5 classes in spring and fall, or 4 classes in spring and fall with 2 classes in the summer. You can work with your academic advisor to develop an academic plan that works best for you.
You may not need to take a foreign language, but you are required to attain a certain level of language proficiency for graduation. This level can be met by one of the following ways:
Yes, but you must receive permission from the instructor to take those classes. If you are considering graduate school, then you will need to check with your graduate program about any restrictions or policies that govern the number of graduate credits you can take as an undergraduate and still apply towards a graduate degree.
Minors are not required in CLAS. However, many students choose to complete a minor to supplement their major.
Meet with your academic advisor to review the graduation procedures, which include completing the online intent to graduate form, which is located in the Student tab of your UCD Access portal, under Registration & Records, in Additional Functions & Information. You should meet with your faculty advisor before you meet with your academic advisor to make sure you have completed all your major requirements.
Commencement information is located online , and information will also be sent to your UCD e-mail account after you have submitted your online application. If you are forwarding this account, please be sure your spam filters are off or you will miss important updates.
Graduation ceremonies are held at the end of Spring and Fall terms. Summer graduates are invited to participate in the Fall commencement ceremony in December. For more information please check their website.
Diplomas do not begin mailing out for up to 2 months AFTER commencement. Please contact the Records Office with any concerns about receiving your diploma.
Your diploma will include only your degree information (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science) and your major. Your option, minor, certificates are not noted on the diploma itself. Your transcript will reflect all of that information.
No. Your graduation applications will not be processed until the semester you will be finished.
