Mike McCourt grew up in Northeast Ohio and completed his
PhD at Cornell University under Charles Van Loan. From 2010-2013, some of his research was
conducted in the Mathematics and Computer Science division at Argonne National
Laboratory in Chicago under Hong Zhang and Lois McInnes. His current research deals with kernel-based
approximation theory and practices and his main collaborator is Greg Fasshauer
at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
