Course Requirements
36 to 48 credit hours.
Students must complete a mimimum of 36 semester hours in approved history courses. And, at least 18 of those credits must be hours earned at the University of Colorado Denver. Not more than 48 hours of history will be counted toward graduation requirements.
No grade lower than a "C" will count for classes taken in the major.
Required History Courses
6 total credit hours: (HIST 3031 MUST be taken before History 4839 and cannot be take concurrently)
- HIST 3031. Theory and Practice of History - 3 credit hours
- HIST 4839. History Seminar - 3 credit hours
Distribution Requirement
18 credit hours minimum.
Students must take a minimum of 6 credit hours (typically two courses) in each of the following areas:
- United States
- Europe
- The World
At least 3 credit hours in each area must be upper-division.
Electives
12 credit hours minimum.
The degree requires a minimum of 12 additional credit hours of electives, which can be satisfied by a combination of additional history courses, internships, or honors independent study for eligible students.
Upper Division Requirement
Majors must take a minimum of 15 credit hours in history at the 4000 level, including HIST 4839, the History Seminar.
