TechMatters 2016

Tech Matters is a supportive and empowering workshop open to all K-16 educators and administratorsNo prior tech experience is necessary.

Join us for an inspiring week of learning, connecting, hacking, and playing. We will explore connected learning's power to promote social justice in and out of school through the use of storytelling. 

    • Non-Credit Program Cost: $50.00
    • Credit: DWP will provide a certificate for completion of 30 hours of professional development. Coninuing Education Credits (CEUs) are available for an additional cost of $100 and require additional registration steps.

    Tech in the Mountains, Spring 2015

    Rocky Mountain National Park / Stanley Hotel Retreat for Teachers


    Location: The Stanley Hotel: Estes park, CO

    Dates: April 24th and 25th, 2015

    Use personal technology devices to document and explore issues of social and environmental justice. 

    Description: The DWP Tech team will be hosting a Rocky Mountain National Park/Stanley Hotel Retreat April 24th and 25th, 2014. We’ll use BYOT (Bring your own Technology) devices (cell phones, laptops, tablets, etc.) to document our work on a National Park Service project and a guided tour with a local historian.  

    We’ll create model texts of social and environmental advocacy for our students, which we’ll share at the end of the retreat. 

    The goal of the retreat is to collaborate using the Common Core Literacy and Next Gen Science standards in order to help students see how they can employ technology to create authentic texts for authentic audiences and become  agents of change.​

    • Certificate for 10 hours of professional development available.

    TechMatters 2014: Connected Learning for Social Justice

    Using Ernest Morrell's book Critical Media Pedagogy: Teaching for Achievement in City Schools as a guide, we will explore how connected learning can promote social justice.  
    In the mornings we'll discuss the Morrell text together and learn about new tech tools.  
    The afternoons are yours to make, hack, and play.  You'll have time to develop curriculum and lessons that serve your students.
