The CLAS Council is the major deliberative and legislative body of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, consisting of elected representatives from the tenured and tenure-track faculty and instructors and senior instructors. The CLAS Council is responsible for conveying the will of the faculty to the Dean in matters related to the academic enterprise.
Who Serves on the Council?
Each department in the College elects one tenured or tenure-track faculty representative. Instructors/Sr Instructors within the College elect one representative from within their rank.
When does the Council meet?
The CLAS Council meets once each month except during June, July, and August.
Special meetings or sessions may be called by the Chair or by petition of at least twenty-five percent of the voting members of the CLAS Council.
