Who is required to participate in New Student Orientation?

First-time Freshmen - All first-time freshmen are required to participate in Freshman Orientation. Specific activities at Freshmen Orientations will include the following: academic advising, registering for courses, introduction to campus resources and policies, and the opportunity to meet other students.

Transfer students are not required to participate in orientation. Optional Transfer Welcomes for transfer students will be held on July 17 and August 7.

How much does it cost to participate in New Student Orientation?

Orientation is free for students and their guests. Each student can RSVP a maximum of two guests.

What are the dates for Freshman Orientation?

Half-Day Orientations: April 26 & May 31, 12:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Full-Day Orientations: June 14, 21, 28 & July 12, 19, 26, 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

How do I register to participate in New Student Orientation?

First-time freshmen and new transfer students can register for an orientation date by visiting their UCDAccess student portal at www.ucdenver.edu/ucdaccess. For further assistance, contact the New Student Orientation office at 303-315-3503.

How can I make changes to my New Student Orientation registration?

If you need to change your New Student Orientation date, visit your UCDAccess student portal at www.ucdenver.edu/ucdaccess. For further assistance, contact the New Student Orientation office at 303-315-3503.

Are parents required to participate in Freshman Orientation?

No, parents are not required to participate. However, parents are encouraged to attend Freshmen Orientation with their student. We will have an all-day program designed specifcally for parents. The student can register their parent(s) by adding the total number of guests to their registration. Each student can RSVP a maximum of two guests.

Where can I park for New Student Orientation?

All participants are strongly encouraged to park in the Tivoli Parking Garage located off of Auraria Parkway and 9th Street. We will validate parking ONLY for the Tivoli Parking Garage. Please bring your parking stub with you to orientation check-in for validation.

Where will the New Student Orientation events take place?

All New Student Orientation events will be held in North Classroom 1130. North Classroom is located on the corner of North Speer Blvd and Larimer Street.

How can I prepare for New Student Orientation?

It is strongly encouraged that all first-time freshmen complete the items listed on their Student Checklist BEFORE attendding Freshman Orientation. For more information, visit our Student Checklist webpage.

What is the Housing/Live-in policy for freshmen?

Freshmen students must complete a housing application. First-time freshmen attending the University of Colorado Denver under the age of 21 and not living with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are required to live at Campus Village Apartments. Freshmen can complete their housing application or housing exemption BEFORE attending Freshmen Orientation. For more information, visit www.ucdenver.edu/housing or call (303) 556-2444. Staff from University Housing and Campus Village Apartments will be present at Freshmen Orientation to answer questions.

What is the $200.00 Registration Deposit?

In order to register for the upcoming semester, one of your requirements is to pay the $200.00 registration deposit. This deposit will be applied towards your tuition bill. For questions concerning the $200.00 registration deposit, contact the Bursar's office at 303-556-2710. Students that have successfully completed and submitted their FAFSA can have the $200.00 registration deposit waived. To verify if the University has received your completed FAFSA, contact the Financial Aid office at 303-556-2886.

How do I access my UCDAccess student portal and University email account?

Activate your UCDAccess student portal by visiting www.ucdenver.edu/ucdaccess.

Do I have to take a Math Placement test?

The Math department requires a math placement test if you are planning to register for Math 1401-Calculus. You can schedule and complete your math placement test for Math 1401-Calculus BEFORE attending Freshmen Orientation by contacting the MERC Lab at 303-556-8532. Currently, there are no other placement tests required for other math courses. It is strongly encouraged that you meet with your academic advisor BEFORE registerting for a math course./p>

Who can I contact if I have a disability and require academic accommodations?

What is the difference between the Financial Aid office and the Bursar's office?

The Financial Aid office is responsible for determining a student's eligibility for financial aid and awarding and disbursing the financial aid (e.g. grants, loans and work-study) to the student's account. The Bursar's office is responsible for the billing and collections of tuition and fees and processing refunds.

What is the difference between the Financial Aid office and the Scholarship Resource office?

The Scholarship Resource office provides information about scholarships (merit and non-merit based) and offers guidance in the scholarship application process. Students are not required to complete a FAFSA to become eligible for a scholarship. For more information, contact the Scholarship Resource office at 303-352-3608. The Financial Aid office requires all students to complete and submit a FAFSA. The aid awarded and disbursed by the Financial Aid office are grants, loans and work-study.
