Bachelor of Arts to Master of Arts in Sociology (4+1)

Program Overview

Allows students to complete a BA and an MA in sociology in as little as five years. Students learn qualitative and quantitative skills and sociological content to engage in the study of critical problems for the betterment of society. Certificate options include criminology, families and social welfare, and health and medical sociology.

The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce its combined BA/MA Program with emphases in:

- Crime, Law, and Deviance
- Health and Society
- Family Welfare, Social Services, and Community

How does it work?

Admission Criteria

The BA/MA Application process is competitive, as the program is designed for highly-qualified students who are capable of an expedited program. Students must have:

- Junior standing at the time of application. (Students will generally apply during the spring semester of their junior year.)

- At least 9 undergraduate credit hours in sociology. (These may be transferred in form another college or university.)

- Recommended grade point average (GPA):

- 3.3+ for all courses taken at the undergraduate or graduate level prior to admission
- 3.5 for all sociology courses at the undergraduate or graduate level prior to admission
