Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) CoL

Tribal Early Childhood Research Center

The Tribal Early Childhood Research Center formed a Community of Learning regarding the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) consisting of four directors of American Indian/Alaska Native Head Start programs and three university-based researchers.  The CLASS Community of Learning was formed in response to concerns raised during Office of Head Start tribal consultations regarding the cultural appropriateness of the CLASS in tribal programs. To examine this issue, the CLASS Community of Learning conducted a survey of Head Start directors serving primarily American Indian/Alaska Native children regarding their use and perceptions of the CLASS.  The Community of Learning has engaged in a thorough analysis of the primarily qualitative data, and they are preparing a manuscript from their work for submission.
