CU Anschutz Student Senate is committed to being the student voice on campus. To that end, we wanted to honor those students and student organizations who made a difference this year. The healthcare profession is preparing us for careers that will make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments.

To nominate a student or organization, review the categories below and submit the corresponding form. In order to be considered, nominations must be submitted no later than 12:00 PM on Friday, April 12th. Winners will be notified by Friday, April 26th. 

Awards will be given out the Annual awards ceremony. This year’s ceremony will be Wednesday, May 1 at the Shore Family Forum in Nighthorse Campbell at 5pm.

Outstanding Community Service Award – Organization
Embracing both the University community as well as the local Denver/Metro community through involvement and service is a priority to many student organizations.  Through commitment to enhancing life experiences of the members of our community, student organization members meet needs, engage in hands-on learning, and find personal fulfillment via acts of community service.  Many student organizations find by providing service to the community, they further engage in pursuing more sustainable commitments to outside organizations needing assistance.
 
Eligibility:
Any recognized student organization (affiliated or associated) at the Anschutz Medical Campus. The student organization registration must be current with the Campus Student Services Office and the Anschutz Medical Campus Student Senate.  Registration/Affiliation Agreement forms are available at www.ucdenver.edu/studentsenate on the News and Forms page.  The Registration/Affiliation Agreement form must be complete with all signatures. 

Criteria:
The award recipient must have a continuing commitment to community service as reflected in one or more programs and/or initiatives, which are responsive to community needs, and which exhibit a new or continuing partnership with the community.

Outstanding Community Service - Individual
Embracing both the University community as well as the local Denver/Metro community through involvement and service is a priority to many students at the Anschutz Medical Campus.  Through commitment to enhancing our community via acts of service, the individual student meets the needs of the community, engages in hands-on learning, and finds personal fulfillment.
 
Eligibility:
Any student enrolled as a degree seeking student in a degree program at the Anschutz Medical Campus who has provided outstanding community service through their own efforts as an individual, outside of any contributions they may have made as a member of a student organization during the 2018-2019 academic year. 

Criteria:
The award recipient must have a continuing commitment to community service as reflected in one or more programs and initiatives, which are responsive to community needs, and exhibit a new or continuing partnership with the community.    (Note:  Students whose service is limited to, or was initiated by participation in a course for academic credit are not eligible for this award.)

Outstanding Student Organization Leader

Eligibility:
Any student enrolled as a degree seeking student in a degree program at the Anschutz Medical Campus who has provided outstanding leadership to a recognized and currently registered student organization at Anschutz Medical Campus during the 2018-2019 academic year.

Criteria:
Recognizes a student leader who has provided exemplary service, commitment, and strong leadership to a student organization.  
  • Made a meaningful contribution to members of the organization. Motivated the group.
  • Made themselves available to student organization members and utilized the strengths and talents of individuals in the group.
  • Exemplified integrity in their words and actions.
  • Demonstrated initiative by seeking ways to challenge the present and enrich the future.
  • Led the organization in its efforts to participate in interdisciplinary activities, presentations, etc.

Outstanding Student Organization Award
Eligibility:
This award recognizes a student organization that demonstrated consistent flexibility, initiative, creativity, and perseverance and made a meaningful contribution to its own student membership and the Anschutz Medical Campus community. 
  
The student organization must have organized activities, events, and programs that have had a significant impact on the quality of campus life. 

Criteria:
Any recognized student organization (affiliated or associated) at the Anschutz Medical Campus. The student organization registration must be current with the Campus Student Services Office and the Anschutz Medical Campus Student Senate.  Registration/Affiliation Agreement forms are available at www.ucdenver.edu/studentsenate on the News and Forms page.  The Registration/Affiliation Agreement form must be complete with all signatures. 

This award recognizes an Anschutz Medical Campus student who provided exemplary service to the University and demonstrated commitment to bettering the University through their efforts.  The nominee must have been involved in University/campus activities (through their academic program, and/or interdisciplinary efforts) and will have assumed responsibility in her/his area of participation, while demonstrating strong service initiative. This is a cumulative award that recognizes the efforts of a student during their entire time at CU Anschutz. These students exemplify the words of the Norlin Charge given at graduation when it encourages students to bear the University’s torch, be the centers of her influence, and "promoters of her spirit."

Eligibility:
Any student enrolled as a degree seeking student in a degree program at the Anschutz Medical Campus who has participated as a member of an Anschutz Medical Campus recognized student organization or contributed their efforts as an individual (not necessarily as part of a student organization) during the 2018-2019 academic year.
