Colorado Plan to Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse

The Colorado Plan to Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse is the result of a year-long process that engaged national experts and over 200 stakeholders statewide to address a disturbing trend of abuse in Colorado. The plan is a coordinated, statewide strategy that simultaneously restricts access to prescription drugs for illicit use, while ensuring access for those who legitimately need them.

The Other Drug Problem

Did you know that every day in this country 2,500 teens abuse a prescription drug for the first time?  That one in five teens, or 4.5 million young people, have abused prescription drugs? That more people, teens and others, die from prescription drug overdoses than from either motor vehicle accidents or overdoses of illicit drugs such as cocaine and heroin?
