This page highlights some of major resources for you to learn more about the field of informatics. There are links to workforce surveys, professional, organizations, journals, and upcoming conferences.

There are two recent surveys that highlight the workforce needs in the field of informatics: the 2013 HIMSS Workforces Survey: Trends and Barriers and the HIMSS 2014 Nursing Informatics Workforce Survey provides a good outlook of the field and the value that informatics specialists brings to a health care organization. The Health IT government site also has a wealth of information about workforce development.

Health IT Government: Workforces Development Programs

AMIA is a professional scientific association that, with its members and its honorific college, ACMI, sponsors meetings, research programs, policy, and education.
HIMSS is a not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology, and produces health IT education, events, thought leadership, market research, and media services around the world.
CHIMSS is a Colorado chapter of HIMSS, and can help you keep up to date with Colorado based HIMSS events, programs, and news.
AHIMA is a worldwide association of health information management professionals, and was originally founded on the mission to improve health record quality.
ANIA is a nursing informatics organization that focuses on the delivery of quality healthcare through the integration of informatics in education, research, practice, and administration.
