This DNP student's passion to care for older adults inspired her doctoral quality improvement project, which investigates medication reconciliation in the Seniors Clinic on campus.

When it comes to understanding the elderly population, Ernestine Kotthoff-Burrell, PhD, ANP is hands down the go-to professional at CU’s College of Nursing. With a 35-year career, she understands what it takes to meet the growing demand for health care for seniors.

Joan Nelson, DNP, ANP-BC knows the score with regard to caring for the elderly--from helping students prepare to pass expanded geriatric content on the 2013 nurse practitioner certification exam to effectively dealing with patients in a clinical setting.

Over her lifelong commitment to women's health issues, Jane Kass-Wolff, PhD, FNP-BC, WHNP-BC, has enthusiastically embraced that her patient population is growing older. Through her research, grant work, and teaching schedule, she enables colleagues and students to get excited about and better care for elderly women.

Using his skill set and education, Sean Reed PhD, APN, ACNS-BC, ACHPN promoted an advanced practice nurse-led interdisciplinary program aimed to support patients and families contending with serious illnesses. The outcomes of this program lead him to continue his journey of education towards a PhD and become Centura Health’s director for palliative care.
