February 2015: Dean Sarah Thompson, PhD, RN, FAAN​

Members of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) announced its election results for its new Board of Directors and Nominating Committee, and Dean Thompson was elected to a two-year term on AACN's Nominating Committee. 

It is an honor to be a part of AACN, at the forefront of nursing education and patient care. Thompson will be an incredible addition to AACN's strong leadership and collaborative approach to improving health care.

After spending nearly a half century elevating the concept of caring into the realm of hard science, former University of Colorado College of Nursing Dean Jean Watson was selected as a Living Legend of the American Academy of Nursing for extraordinary contributions to her profession.​ Read More.

Loretta ​Ford, 1999

Loretta Ford, former College of Nursing educator, was honored as an American Academy of Nursing Living Legend in 1999 after co-founding the Nurse Practitioner program. She has since written close to 100 nursing publications on the program's history, giving nurses and nurse educators today insight into the process.

This year, Ford is being recognized for her contributions to the field of nursing with the 50th Anniversary of the Nurse Practitioner program.
