The Office of Research Education, directed by Associate Dean Nancy R. Zahniser, PhD, strives to enhance research training at the School of Medicine. Dr. Zahniser serves as a resource to assist research trainees, including students, postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty, at the School of Medicine to secure funding during their research training years and prepare for successful careers in research.
Dr. Zahniser's office offers support by helping them to:
- Gain funding by offering advice about individual fellowship and career development applications.
- Gain funding by offering advice about training grants applications.
- Prepare for training grant site visits.
- Enhance their career development through workshops given in collaboration with the Graduate School and the Office of Faculty Affairs.
The Office of Research Education, which is under the auspices of the Office of Academic Affairs, also works to increase communication and collaboration among basic and clinical researchers. As such, Dr. Zahniser is a member of the Research Advisory Committee (RAC), the Colorado Clinical Translational Science Institute (CCTSI) Internal Advisory Board, and the CCTSI Education Training and Career Development Leadership Council.
