The Radiation Oncology Residency at the University of Colorado Denver is located in the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado Hospital. The campus is located in Aurora, Colorado, just east of Denver. Affiliated hospitals are the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Denver Health Medical Center and the Children's Hospital Denver.
The Radiation Oncology Residency is a four year program beginning at the PGY II level. The training program typically includes 44 clinical months, 3 research months and 1 month in medical oncology. Physics and radiobiolody didactics run throughout the year. Residents are paired one-on-one with attendings during clinical months. There is extensive clinical experience including stereotactic radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy, image guided radiotherapy, high dose rate and low dose rate brachytherapy, total body irradiation, and total skin electrons.
All residents participate in research, both during the protected three month research rotation and throughout their training. Resident research projects have included clinical, translational, physics and basic science projects. They have opportunities to present their work at both local and national meetings. Additional research time can be considered.
