The program utilizes several primary affiliates in order to offer optimal clinical training rotations in diverse settings, exposure to a full range of demographic, cultural, and clinical populations, and maximize elective and research options for residents.

 

University of Colorado Hosptial  

University of Colorado Hospital (UCH)
Located at the Anschutz Medical Campus, this beautiful  state-of-the-art facility is the tertiary care leader of the Rocky Mountain region.  It embraces a patient-centered philosophy and serves both private and public sectors.  UCH hosts a consultation-liaison psychiatry service that interfaces with the full range of emergency inpatient and ambulatory medical specialties. The UCH outpatient psychiatry service is located in Building 500 and is the primary training site for outpatient psychiatry and psychotherapy. It features advanced technology for psychotherapy observation and skill-building.

The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) has named the University of Colorado Hospital as the highest-performing academic hospital in the United States for delivering quality health care for the second consecutive year (2011 and 2012), and awarded it with the Quality Leadership Award. No other hospital has received this honor two years in a row. 

The award is given to the academic hospital with the best outcome scores in patient safety, clinical effectiveness, clinical efficiency, patient satisfaction, mortality and equity, which is a measure of whether outcomes differ for patients of different ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds.  

   
CeDAR at University of Colorado Hospital (AMC)  

Center for Dependency, Addition and Rehabilitation (CeDAR)
UCH’s Center for Dependency, Addiction, and Rehabilitation (CeDAR) is located on the west side of the Anschutz Medical Campus and provides intensive residential recovery services for persons with substance use disorders.

     
Denver Health Medical Center  

Denver Health Medical Center
Denver Health Medical Center is the primary safety net hospital serving the City and County of Denver.  Psychiatry services are a key component of the DHMC mission.  The inpatient services for adults and adolescents utilize a crisis intervention model.  Other services include forensic/correctional psychiatry, a dedicated psychiatric emergency service, outpatient addiction psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and consultation to neighborhood health clinics.

The University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) has awarded 2012 Denver Health the Quality Leadership Award and 2012 Supply Chain Performance Excellence Award as the top-performing amoung participating public hospitals in the United States for delivering quality health. 

 

     
Denver VAMC  

Department of Veterans Administration Medical Center
The Denver Veterans Administration Medical Center has major psychiatric research and clinical programs including a schizophrenia research center.  Here, veterans obtain comprehensive psychiatric services including emergency treatment, inpatient services, alcohol and drug treatment, PTSD residential treatment, and outpatient treatment.  The VA is a leader in innovative clinical services for veterans, including the use of telepsychiatry to reach those in rural areas of Colorado.  The VAMC broke ground in august 2009 for its planned new facility on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

     
Children's Hospital Colorado

Children’s Hospital Colorado
Children’s Hospital Colorado is a private, non-profit, tertiary-care pediatric hospital which serves the Denver metropolitan area, Colorado, and the greater Rocky Mountain region.  Psychiatry services include inpatient and intensive outpatient services for children and adolescents, day treatment, outpatient services, eating disorder treatment, and consultation-liaison services.  Marianne Wamboldt, MD, the Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at The Children’s Hospital, leads a multidisciplinary team of experts in children’s mental health, including child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.
