At Women's Connection we understand that women are unique in their experience of the devastation of addiction. Recent research has deepened our understanding of women’s special treatment needs, including the awareness of the high correlation between trauma, relationship violence, and addiction. Women's Connection seeks to embrace women’s unique needs by providing a safe, nurturing environment that promotes sobriety and healing from the multifaceted, destructive impact of substance abuse. We view addiction as a brain disease that must be treated according to each individual’s physical, psychological, social-cultural, spiritual, and economic need by building on the strengths that they already possess in each of these areas.
Toward this end, Women's Connection employs various interventions to identify and address women’s special needs:
- Our extensive array of treatment services including individual, family, and group therapy options offers clients and their counselors the ability to cater treatment to each individual’s specific treatment needs.
- Family-focused treatment and coordination of services including family therapy, couples/partner therapy, multifamily groups, developmental screenings for children and onsite childcare.
- Our Special Connections program provides incentives, meals, transportation, and special assistance to help pregnant women engage in treatment and connect with community resources.
- Counselors are all specifically trained and certified to provide substance abuse treatment that takes into consideration gender-specific issues and utilizes an approach that is relational, strengths-based, and client-centered.
- We maintain an environment that promotes community, safety, self-esteem, and support. In other words, that provides sanctuary and a culture of recovery.
